A Brand New Year!

Soon, we will all be back in the classroom getting oriented to a new school year.  On this blog, I will be giving information that will be helpful to you for English and Reading.
The first few days of school, we will be getting to know one another, getting our supplies organized, and finding our way around : )
We will also start talking about what makes a good reader and writer. What do readers and writers do anyway??? : )

Things to make sure you get accomplished before Monday, August 20th:

• Make sure you have all of your supplies
• Sign and return all papers listed on the checkoff sheet that will come home the first day
• Have an independent book to read in class (We will make a trip to the library)
• Do some research about your name for our first unit.

                 Where did you get it?                      What is the origin of your family name?
                 Who gave it to you?                         If you could pick a name what might it be?
                 How was it chosen?                         What does it mean?
                 How you feel about it?                     Were you named after someone/something?
